DREAMING ABOUT THE SPOTLIGHT Welcome to Los Angeles. The city of fashion, acting, and everything in the limelight. Here stars are created, and others are found. Here is where everyone comes to see the rich and famous, and everyone dreams of being in the spotlight. To have attention every second. Well, who wouldn't want that life?
LIFESTYLES OF THE RICH AND FAMOUS Maybe the ones who are already famous wouldn't care to have some alone time, some time out of the spotlight. But then again that just depends on how they view it. Or maybe how popular they are. Funny how they are jealous of the unfamous, and the unfamous are jealous of the famous. Isn't it ironic?
WOULDN'T IT BE JUST LOVELY FOR ME Besides the famous, there's the unfamous. Or maybe the infamous, however you want to look at it. The ones who have to scratch at the bottom of their purses for a car. The ones who are wannabes and the ones that think they've got what it takes. Well, now the question is do they? And can they survive Los Angeles, Hollywood, and those bitchy celebs?

Thereltolan simply watched the waves roll out from him, the water rippling across his body and hers as he watched her float about, his own body securely on the bottom of the lake. He found it very interesting, he had met two Niero.... shifters, since he had emerged from his cave, yet he found he could empathize with both of them. This one, Aella, for the fear and shunning that she received from the humans, though it must hurt her more, being a human herself. The other shifter, Danu, had been because of the monster, the predator hidden within both of them, a killing machine that must kill and hunt to kill to survive.
Catarin stirred, standing up from the lake, casting his eyes about the lake. He saw her equipment sitting there by the lake and the several trees surrounding the lake, but there was nothing else, not even a deer leaning over to take a drink from the cool waters, nothing like how he remembered it at all. He could not even hear many birds, the forest that was usually full of them seemed somewhat quiet and still. "Damian has done a lot of damage, to the very land and to the people of Larthen..." he said, turning away from the trees to gaze down at her. "People fear us, you and I, even though there is so much worse to fear in this world, like a man that was allowed to climb in power, until he was nearly too powerful to defeat." He said, shaking his head and gazing down at her. "They fear the unknown, but do not wish to know the truth of it either, humans can be a rather rash and foolish race sometimes. I think it may be the metal things they wear on their heads whenever they come to my cave..." he said, shaking his head, remembering all the knights that had come to slay him, forcing him into combat. Only one had gotten out alive, the small fleshy creatures were hard to hit away and not kill.

She turned from the mountains, not seeing any point in trying to see through the trees. Alianna knew that the Pass was dangerous, but had always wanted to see the mountains. They must be very pretty.
"My friend kept me from people. At a request from my parents before they went to battle and died." She thought about Grisa's gruffness but also warmth at the bad times. She had comforted Ali as she grieved for her parents when she was old enough to understand. The woman had been a good guardian and friend. "Yes. For what I am and for what people fear of me."

The human seemed curious, gazing up at the mountains as well, though he knew from her lower view point her view would totally be blocked by trees. The pass seemed so far away from here, yet he knew he had made the trek in barely over an hour, his long legs making the trip very quickly, even if his wings were too small for flight. He did not care about that, he simply walked like most other creatures, enjoying the feel of the earth beneath his claws, the sky could be left to his other brethren.
Her words surprised him, believing that all humans at least at one point in their lives had lived in civilization, at least at one point requiring them to travel to larger settlements for trade or taxes. "You are a strange one. Even Kiara had gone to cities when she was but a wyrmling," he said, watching her ever relaxed air, even around him. "You truly are shunned from society like no other, aren't you nierokal?" He muttered, his tail sliding easily through the water, stirring up the water gently about him. She was right, even as a dragon of earth, he did enjoy the water, especially a body of water that was so familiar to him. He beat his wings gently, stirring up the water about him and sending small waves at the human, nothing big enough to have any chance of harming her, just being playful and making it more fun.

Thereltolan simply lay there on the cliff, gazing down at her now relaxed party. It all seemed so peaceful and calm, after so much tension and caution before, he was rather glad. He was honestly surprised how much influence the human had over the animals with her, calming them down in the presence of a dragon, a natural predator of certainly the ass, and maybe even the bird if he wanted a bite sized snack. His affinity may be to the earth itself, but hers extended ever more to the animals that inhabit it.
"All of us protect the balance in several different ways, even within a certain color of dragon it can be varied." He explained, knowing of several different methods. "The kind that most fear, and with good reason, are the reds. They are generally vicious and usually think upholding the balance means slaughtering anything that may oppose them... well, that's only in the most extreme-" he stopped hearing a small sound behind him. He paused, listening, when he heard it again, the small bleat of a goat. He slowly turned his head about to the three intact corpses still behind him, when he saw a small goat, a kid, nosing at a female. The thing gave a bleat, nosing into its mother's teat. He groaned, gazing down at the young goat who apparently had no idea of the dragon staring down at it. "We also have a balance of our own..." he muttered, hearing the confusion in the young goat as it bleated once more, before sucking on the teat, trying to gain some nutrition. He was faced with a decision, leave it be and have it most likely starve to death, or kill it now, bringing it to a swift death. He shook his large head, he did not like his options.

Danu thought that she was probably supposed to be disoriented and confused, maybe because she'd been kicked in the head once or twice. Sure, her vision was getting blurry, but when she blinked quickly, the fog went away and Zach came into her vision. Gazing at him and wondering where she had finally gone right, Danu was pretty proud of how her body was reacting to the situation. Not to Zach, but to the damage handed so forcefully to it. Instead of snapping into a thousand pieces, she was bending, about as far as physically and mentally possible, but it was working and she wasn't falling or breaking. Thankfully. It was rather reassuring, that after everything she'd been through, nothing was actually going to break her spirit or her body. A few bones, yeah, no one could withstand blows like that and not give, but she was still functioning and that was pretty good for what the shifter had just gone through. Perhaps it was her breed, perhaps the animal in her had taken the abuse better than a human might. Danu wasn't sure about it and knew she didn't want to know the answer. Better not knowing.
Zach picked her up and she knew he was doing it gently, but she still groaned a little, through her teeth as she tried to dull the sound. She was still in his arms, thinking in quiet shock over how different he was now from the ferocious killer who had ripped into her torturer. Zach had been so incredibly ferocious, a cold killer intent on causing pain and getting revenge. And now.. As he touched her with gentle hands and cried over her, because she had gotten the living crap beaten out of her, Danu couldn't think of any other way she'd have him. Not only was his concern for her overwhelming and amazing in her blurring eyes, but because she would be the exact same way. If anyone attacked him and hurt Zach this bad, then she'd get revenge with the same eyes that burned with rage. It was simple, except for now, when the person who had hurt him was her. How could she punish herself, satisfy the need to get revenge for hurting him? It wasn't like she could do anything, because every muscle in her body ached and bruises splattered across her skin like melted wax from purple and blue candles. Danu had a few bones broken too, but she focused instead on Zach's eyes, that were wet with unshed tears and felt her heart break for him. She'd caused him so much pain; how would she ever make that up to him? Her hands clenched uselessly at her sides and she had to blink again, to clear her vision.
She heard his question and blinked at him, completely speechless. "Hell no.." Came her intense reply, as she tried to figure out where the question had come from. Then, Danu glanced down and remembered that she was almost half-naked, with nothing on but ripped up shorts and a band around her chest. She didn't flinch or anything, but, hearing the concern in his voice and seeing it in his voice, said reassuringly, "He didn't get that far, Zach." Danu would have hugged him or made some kind of contact if she didn't hurt so much. She kept her mouth shut, lips pressed together tightly, in order to keep anything that might betray her pain inside. She didn't want him to feel in any way responsible for this. It was her own fault, her own stupidity had landed her in this position, with bruises lining her skin and broken bones making her stomach turn on a regular basis. Zach told her she couldn't kill him and she made a face at him, sticking out her tongue like a little child. But she was very serious and unhappy when she told him, "But I tried. I can't get past that. My aim was off, but I was going after you like I would any other attacker and you weren't attacking!" She gritted her teeth, loathing her lack of control. "You're Zach. A fellow Shifter, my closest friend.. The man I love.. I shouldn't have even gone into that mode, like I was hunting you like prey."
"I love you, Danu. I would do anything in the world for you." She gulped, half in fright and half in surprise. How did she respond to that? She'd never known anyone who felt so fiercely for her. Danu blinked again, gazing up at him, and loving him so much, when she finally realized. She didn't have anything to compare his feelings for her with, except her feelings for him. It all made sense when she thought about it. She reached up and wiped away his tears, hurting more with every tear that fell. "I.. I love you too, Zach. I still think you deserve more than me, but I want you.. More than anything I've ever wanted and, even though I've only been traveling with you for three days, I can't imagine enjoying life without you at my side." She paused, still touching his cheek gently, grimacing at the specks of blood that appeared on his skin and quickly wiping them off as well. That had sounded incredibly poetic, which certainly wasn't her thing. She did poetic as well as she did flowers, dresses, and perfume. Danu couldn't remember the last time she'd bought a dress, though she'd worn one for some lord she had been entertaining. It was strange how off track her thoughts got and how erratic they were, especially when Zach was holding her. She tried to sit up a little and groaned through her teeth as she did, muscle and bone protesting the movement quite loudly.
Once she was something resembling a vertical position, Danu put both of her hands on Zach's face, trying to get him to look at her. She wasn't at all sure about how they were getting out, but first, she had to make sure he understood something. Once Zach was looking her in the eyes, she told him, "I've only ever cried for one man and that's you. A life without you doesn't seem worth living, to me. So don't leave me, ever. Got that?" Danu tipped her head to the side, a small smile gracing her lips before she kissed him, to seal the bargain, before he could say anything or agree. It wasn't a long or passionate kiss, just one to remind herself that the way he kissed was yet another reason why she loved him so much. That and his dedication to her. "You came for me too... You came and you didn't have to, especially since I attacked you. Not that I'm not grateful." She pulled closer to him, turning sideways so that she could press her head under his and curl her bruised body up against his, uncovered skin and all. Danu sighed, smiling again. She felt so relaxed next to him, she wasn't worried about anyone coming in on them or attacking, because she was sure he'd protect her. Because she knew he'd forgiven her for attacking him. Zach loved her. He did. And she loved him back, more than anything she could possibly think of.

Her eyes too turned to look at the Pass, but were hampered by the trees. She had never been to that certain part of Larthen. Grisa had normally kept to forests for protection. Ali really did love the forests but had always wanted to be able to travel on the roads, meet people, and serve for the Royal family of Larthen.
"I haven't done much in my life. Never been to a big city, or even really out of the forests." The girl sighed as she floated around Catarin's head. This dragon was a contradiction of all Ali had heard as a little girl. He didn't have a bad temper. He hadn't snapped her neck or bitten into her body. It was amazing. Alianna was happy to have finally found a friend.
