Human
General Overview
Humans are a type of people who do not naturally have magic. They must learn it through other methods, and are not as good in using it as elves or other magical races. They tend to fight with more physical objects such as swords, lances, axes, or even bows and arrows. Seeing as they do not have magic, they must do everything with their own two hands, whether they want to or not. Humans tend to live anywhere in Larthen, although they generally live in Faellith, the main human city. Their professions range from warriors to merchants to travelers. Really anything fits them when it comes to a job. Humans tend to see things as good vs. evil most of the time, and have a variety of opinions when it comes to right and wrong. These creatures live to about 80-90 years old.
Subraces
Whisperers Whisperers are humans that can speak to animals through a mind link. They are able to do so from a very young age and get along with just about any animal very well. Their companions are typically animals more so than humans, although they do hang around other human beings. They're very against animal abuse, and some are even vegetarians because they don't tend to like to eat what they talk to.
Banished The Banished are humans that have been converted to the side of the darkness. They have a tattoo or brand in their upper right arm that is in the shape of a B. Their eyes tend to have some sort of red shade to them if they aren't red directly. Flecks are most common. They tend to be more wicked than they usually would be, and don't have a sense of mercy. The more elite members are permanetly like that, and cannot be changed back, unlike the lower ranks of the Banished. However, Banished can feel love, it just depends on who it is.
Appearance
Humans vary when it comes to appearance, as no two humans look alike - save for identical twins of course. They may have any color of hair and eyes, however their skin remains restricted from a pale color to a dark tan or black color. They come in all heights and wear just about anything to sheild themselves from the cold. Their ears are rounded.

Shapeshifter
General Overview
Shapeshifters are merely humans that have an extra gene that allow them to shift into another animal. Howevere, shapeshifters may shift into only one animal, and this animal is predetermined before birth. This animal may be different than the parents'. Shifters are usually shunned by humans and tend to live in secluded areas around Larthen. They have no other magical abilities than their natural ability to shift their appearance. Whether or not a shifter keeps their clothes when they shift depends on the individual. Shifters are very rare, however, as they are masters when it comes to blending in with their surroundings. Their senses are also heightened when they are in human form. Seeing as they are wanderers, they don't usually have professions, but those who do are very lucky. Their animal form also goes along with their human age. Shifters generally live from 80-90 years.
Subraces
None. However, they may change into anything as long as it is an animal.
Appearance
Shifters look just like regular humans when they are in their human form, although their human appearance is generally connected with their animal form. For example, a shifter with black hair would have black fur as the animal they shift into. They do not, however, have animal-like traits when they are in their human form, save for possibly longer canines. They tend to wear anything like humans.

Elf
General Overview
Elves are very unique creatures. The race was there to see the beginning of Larthen and will most likely see the end of it. They tend to keep to themselves, especially in the boundaries of Holloway, their home. They are very intune with nature, especially those who work around in nature often. They have natural magic in their blood simply because of their race, but not all use it. Some would rather use weapons or other ways of doing what they need to do. They tend to use a bow and arrow, although some may use swords or other hand held weapons. It is said that Elves can communicate with nature, but none have been successful in contacting the dead outside of Andalean. These unique beings are immortal. For the conversion rate of their age, times the number of human years by ten. Example: 17-year-old human, 170-year-old elf. The two would appear to be the same age.
Subraces
None
Appearance
Elves tend to be tall, lean, and graceful. Their ears, much unlike humans, taper off to a point, giving them a special characteristic of their race. Being how they are, Elves tend to be more fair when it comes to skin tone, accompanied by lighter hair and eyes. However, this is not true for all Elves, and many are seen with darker hair and eyes. They wear the same thing as humans to protect themselves from the elements, although they tend to be lighter in color.

Death Hound
General Overview
Death Hounds are disgusting creatures that live up on the hills of Death Mountain. They are considered the helpers of demons, carrying out their dirty work to bring others to Andalean where they would restlessly walk. They don't have much thought of their own, following the orders of their Banished masters. They tend to be lumbering, and move in packs, however their jaws pack a powerful bite. They tend to kill any that are born that have a hint of any color other than black on them, for what thought process they do have registers these beings as weak links. They tend to live to be 40-50 years of age.
Subraces
None
Appearance
Death Hounds are pure black in color, with blood red eyes that have no pupils, giving them a menacing look. Saliva drips from their jaws, pooling in a sticky mess on the ground. They are built like an over-grown wolf, their claws razor sharp and jutting out of their paws like talons. They reek of death, and just about any one, even with dull senses, can smell them coming. Some even have collars wrapped around their necks, but their agitated nature makes it difficult to get one around their neck.

Pegasus
General Overview
Pegasi are just like any other type of horse. They range in personality, and speak to others through a mind-link, although they can only do so to others who are able to hear them. Other than that, they only speak in whinnies. There are wild herd of Pegasi running around in Larthen's fields and forests, but catching sight of wild herds are rare. The domesticated ones are very tame, and are often used for mounts in the army, giving archers an advantage in the sky. They live all over the map and can be quite a common sight amongst travelers who need a quicker way to get around. These creatures tend to live from 30-35 years.
Subraces
Appearance
A Pegasus looks like a regular horse but with large wings, which enables them to fly. They come in a variety of colors and builds, suitable for any need whether it is traveling or farming, they're able to do it. Their coats are very shiny, and tend to be shiny without being kept, although they need to be brushed to avoid being itchy and uncomfortable. Their manes, unless clipped, tend to get very long, hanging half way to the ground, while their forelocks hang in their face. Some have feathers on the back of their legs. Their tails tend to trail the ground. The highest a Pegasus may get is 17 HH.

Dragon
General Overview
Dragons are very wise creatures. They tend to keep to themselves, although some are known for attaching themselves to humans or other races. They hate to be ridden, being free of will, but those who are lucky enough to capture or raise a dragon are rewarded greatly with the power these beings possess. Dragons come with different magical abilities, and they may be the same or different as one of their parents, although they generally follow the mother's. However, this is not always the case. They aren't the type of creatures you want to make angry, so steer clear of a furious dragon, otherwise you may not have your head. They're very protective of their young, and will stay with them every moment they can. When a dragon bestows a gift upon another race, it is something to be treasured, and thankful for. Dragons tend to live for 500 years.
Subraces
Fire Fire dragons tend to have fiery tempers, and it isn't necessarily a good thing to cross into their territory. They tend to breathe fire and can withstand hot temperatures without much of a problem. Fire dragons tend to be more earthly colors such as brown, black, or even red. Despite their fiery tempers, they get along with most of their kind.
Ice Ice dragons are more cool and calm when it comes to problems. They breathe very cold air, which has the probability of freezing whatever it touches. Sometimes they even turn into ice crystals, falling to the earth and hitting whatever they can. Ice dragons can survive the cold without much of a problem, and prefer it to any other enviroment. Ice dragons tend to be cooler colors such as white or sky blue.
Acid Acid dragons are even full of more spitfire than their fire cousins. However, that doesn't mean all of them are. Acid dragons have the ability to spit acid, although most of the time their saliva is actually acid. It tends to come from their front fangs like a snake. Acid dragons can be any color, although they tend to be more greens or browns.
Wind Wind dragons can vary when it comes to temperment. They tend to be quiet one moment and then stormy the next. These dragons control the wind, and can cause cool breezes or strong winds that are brutal like those of a hurricane. They can be very deadly, and are known for making a mess out of surrounding areas. These dragons tend to be from a light gray to a dark stormy gray, almost black.
Water Water dragons tend to have even tempers, and are the mediators in many arguments. They control the water, and can even make it rain, which is why water dragons were once worshipped by the first humans on Larthen. They can transform water into anything they wish, and can also breathe underwater as well as walk on it. These dragons tend to be a dark blue in color, although they are also found in lighter blues.
Earth Earth dragons are very peaceful dragons who tend to be one with nature. They can control the earth, and are known for creating earthquakes when they are upset. They can bend the earth to their whim, and can even grow new plants if they want to. They're what holds the earth together. These dragons tend to be green or other earthly hues such as a variety pf browns.
Appearance
Appearance varies with each dragon, depending on their power. However, an overall appearance is pretty simple. They are large creatures closely related to lizards. They tower above any building by a long shot, often dwarfing the tallest trees. The only thing truly bigger than them are the mountains and caves in which they live. On their backs they have a large set of wings that enables them to fly and do whatever they please in the air. Their claws are long, razor sharp, and hooked like talons, giving them a deadly edge. Their bodies are covered in a thick layer of shiny scales that are so tough it blocks against sword attack and arrows, making them a powerful mount.

Unicorn
General Overview
Unicorns are very rare creatures on Larthen. There were only three left, but a few have been birthed since then. To keep at least some of their genes going, there are also half-unicorns. Unicorns are full of magic, and anyone who catches them are very lucky, although many are hunted for their horns, sadly, which led to such few numbers. They rarely show themselves to humans, but some have done so, and have even befriended the other race. They live amongst the land, keeping to themselves when they can, although they appear to help others. A sound much like a chime is heard when a Unicorn is near, although no one can hear a Unicorn's footsteps. Unicorns are immortal beings.
Subraces
None
Appearance
Unicorns come in a variety of colors, although they are most commonly white. The horn that spirals from their head can be any color, and doesn't depend on any other aspect of the animal. Their manes and tails are typically long and flowing, brushing against the ground. They do occasionally have feathers on the back of their feet if they are of a heavier type of equine, although Unicorns tend to be slimmer. The highest a Unicorn can get is 17 HH.

Hybrids
These hybrids are the only ones currently allowed in Larthen. This list will be updated frequently with information on each hybrid.
Human-Elf Human-Elf hybrids are shunned by society. They are caught inbetween the two races, and neither race accepts them for that reason. They tend to live solitary lives, although it is possible for them to find companionship amongst others. Human-Elf rights are greatly disputed amongst Larthen today, for it is nearly impossible to eliminate it all together. These hybrids tend to inherit the traits of both parents, although they may inherit only one. Because of the human blood, they live the life span of a normal human. They may have some magical abilities.
Unicorn-Pegasus A Unicorn and Pegasus cross may also be known as a Unipeg or Pegicorn. Either way, this creature has both the wings of a Pegasus and a horn of a Unicorn. They possess the ability to fly and heal like both parents are able to do so. They come in a variety of colors and builds. THIS IS A RESTRICTED BREED. Staff approval only.
Pegasus-Horse This is cross can result in multiple things. The foal may be a Pegasus or it may be a horse. Either way, the foal will be born with wings or without, and it is very difficult to tell a cross between the two from a pure one. They come in multiple colors and builds.
Shapeshifter-Human This cross may also result in multiple things. The baby may be a shifter or it may be a human. If it is a shifter, it tends to take on the animal its shifter parent is. However, that is not always the case and they may take on an animal further back in the genetic tree. The same rules still apply with the hair and eye colors as well as aging. If the baby is more human, they will exhibit no traits of having a shifter parent. Half-Shifters are as shunned as the Shifters they descended from. They tend to live the lifespan of a human.
Shapeshifter-Elf Just like a cross between a shifter and a human, the baby may or may not take on the abilities of the shifter parent. If so, the animal tends to be that of the shifter parent, but may also be one further back on the genetic tree. In Elf form, the child will have pointed ears like the Elf-part of the family. If it takes on the appearance of an Elf, however, it will not exhibit any traits that may come from a shifter parent. Their ears will still be pointed and have the traits of an Elf. These hybrids live the lifespan of their shifter parts.
