Danu saw Catarin flinch a little and blinked in startled surprise. Um, oops? She hadn't meant to sound reprimanding with her response to his mini-speech, but she was no pushover, even with a dragon about fifty feet above her head. She wasn't a coward, just wary and paranoid, and even those two reactions to dangerous situations didn't counteract her sudden desire to comfort the dragon. She hadn't meant to hurt his feelings, though, in the back of her head, she was startled at having done so. You would've thought his soul would be encased in scales, a little like his body.. But then, I'm always wrong about sentimental things like that. It's amazing how much I actually sympathize with Catarin Woodtongue, a dragon. Of course, her annoying little brain couldn't leave her alone.

You sympathize because you're a monster too, remember? She snorted, moving to sit cross-legged on the ground, still patting the grass with a fascinated air. Not like you've never seen it before. Danu wished passionately that there was some way to slap that little annoying inner voice in her head. It wouldn't shut up and leave her alone! Muttering, she remembered to pay attention to the dragon in front of her, though Danu did wonder if having arguements with yourself counted as being insane. She was pretty sure she qualified for the list. She felt pretty good about her answer to his question and smiled a little, though it wasn't exactly a good answer, but she'd been honest and that was certainly an improvement. She wasn't above lying or cheating her way out of situations, and she would have done the same with this one, except she had been dealing with a dragon.

But what Catarin Woodtongue said made sense to her, in a strange unprecedented kind of way, but hey, it worked! He told her about the Nieroshim, she decided mentally that he must mean his own species, dragons, and their duty to nature and natural balance. She blinked, moving to lie on her back, while Tikki perched and Gaia grazed on, at peace. Danu replied, with a small smile, "That makes sense. With great power comes great responsibility, right? It would make sense that the largest species in this world would be given gifts to help protect and preserve, though I'm sure not all use them that way. Er, no offense.." She trailed off, knowing she was right. Not all dragons were peaceful(somewhat) and philosophical like Catarin.

Thereltolan simply lay there on the cliff, gazing down at her now relaxed party. It all seemed so peaceful and calm, after so much tension and caution before, he was rather glad. He was honestly surprised how much influence the human had over the animals with her, calming them down in the presence of a dragon, a natural predator of certainly the ass, and maybe even the bird if he wanted a bite sized snack. His affinity may be to the earth itself, but hers extended ever more to the animals that inhabit it.

"All of us protect the balance in several different ways, even within a certain color of dragon it can be varied." He explained, knowing of several different methods. "The kind that most fear, and with good reason, are the reds. They are generally vicious and usually think upholding the balance means slaughtering anything that may oppose them... well, that's only in the most extreme-" he stopped hearing a small sound behind him. He paused, listening, when he heard it again, the small bleat of a goat. He slowly turned his head about to the three intact corpses still behind him, when he saw a small goat, a kid, nosing at a female. The thing gave a bleat, nosing into its mother's teat. He groaned, gazing down at the young goat who apparently had no idea of the dragon staring down at it. "We also have a balance of our own..." he muttered, hearing the confusion in the young goat as it bleated once more, before sucking on the teat, trying to gain some nutrition. He was faced with a decision, leave it be and have it most likely starve to death, or kill it now, bringing it to a swift death. He shook his large head, he did not like his options.

((Sorry, not done yet. I'll try and finish this later today.))
